This is embarrassing. The primary font for the covers of my books, including my InDesign book, is always “missing” in InDesign 2022 (aka, v 17). All the other apps on my Mac, including InDesign 2021, are fine with Balford Base (full name: “Ilham Herry – Balford Base”), both the ttf and otf versions. Yes, I’ve tried both. Other fonts in the same family show up everywhere.
But whether I’m looking at old files that use that font or create a new doc and try to use it, it’s simply not available in any font menu or through Find/Replace Font.
Attempted so far:
- clear the system font cache
- nuke InDesign 17 and all its settings (at least I think I got them all), restart, then reinstall.
- installed the font into InDesign’s private fonts folder (in the application’s folder)
- packaged with InDesign 16 so the font is in an adjacent “Document fonts” folder
- Downloaded fresh versions of the font from the foundry
- “validated” the font in Font Book
I’m pretty darned resourceful with InDesign but this is stumping me. I welcome any advice, even if it’s something obvious I may have missed.
