I would like to share this particular quirk I have experienced recently. No solution, but workarround that might be usefull:

And if this can become a thread to share what to look for in WORD document, it would be great.

what in your WORD files makes IND go haywire?

Upon import from DOC or DOCX or RTF the file flowed OK – once, in a first major formating change (such as applying a style to footnotes) I got to a situation where IND cs4 stoped reflowing (although there were empty pages) and there was nothing I could do to make it work. Sometimes it stalled, often it crashed completely.

After many hours of detailed choping the original document to pieces (to find out what is the problem I am introducing from MS word) I discovered:

WORD crossreferencing in footnotes CAN lead to serious problems in reflow. All I needed to do was to remore the crossreferences from Word to make everything work OK.With the crossreference in place IND just would not flow beyond the point of that reference

Has anybody else experienced similar problem? is there something more to watch for in WORD files?

      Tomas
