      Hi there

I am having issues with a Microsoft Word document i am trying to ‘place’ into indesign. The original word document is A4 and when i import it into an new A4 ID new document it seems to travel ok. But the problem is i need to make an A5 book, so when i change the document settings to A5 i am left with a massive text box on each page, which i would then need to change each box. Is there a way to avoid having to grab each text box on each page and pull it down to the A5 size?

I did also try placing the original A4 document in a new A5 ID document, but then the shift>place to auto flow didn’t work, the text didn’t flow until the end of the pages for some reason and then i had to pull the text boxes out to actually see the text and similarly i would have to click each page to get the text to flow.

Does anybody have any suggestions to avoid clicking something on each page with either method?

      That would be most appreciated!

      Thank you.

Resizing pages is not always obvious. Read some about it here:
      https://creativepro.com/resizing-document-pages.php

If you have already changed the size, this might help:

Hi there David, i briefly checked these out, but i am on CS6 so it seems to be slightly different, Liquid Layout?

Well you can use Liquid Layout, but I think Layout Adjustment is often easier. You can use one or the other (but not both). We talk a bit about it here https://creativepro.com/podcasts/podcast-185
