      Hi everyone

I'm currently trying to import text from microsoft word using an xcel data sheet. I just wanted to see if it is possible to do, and how to go about it.

I set the xcel up the same way as when importing images using the @ symbol to tell indesign where the files are, but after some testing i'm assuming the @ symbol only works for graphics not text files.

I'm currently doing school groups, so multiple photos with adjoining text. But i'm stuck copying and pasting the individual group names in, and just want to see if i can find a way to import them directly like i do the images.

The indesign message i got was .

The data source references one or more unsupported files.

The files cannot be previewed or merged

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

      Thanks

      David

That's for doing Data Merges, so it has to be in a format relating to what can be read, like a tab delimited text file or something.

Sometimes I'll use Acrobat Pro to Combine files (even word files) into a single PDF. I then export that as a text file (RTF) from File>Export and choose RTF

You can then import all the text into a single text frame.
