Hi, I wanted to search for a style I made that automatically numbers my tables (I have 71 in this book). When I search for the style, it starts in the middle of the book, regardless of where I start the search, and does not find them in sequence. I’ve run the split story script to see if it makes a difference and it doesn’t.

I’m also having trouble making it number a new table sequentially. It insists on leaving out a number, but I cannot find anything with the left out number.

Clumps of hair are lying on the floor from where I have been tearing it out.

Current solution is to remove all formatting from those tables and start again.

Would it have anything to do with the sequence in which tables were created?

This has been added to my list for New Orleans.

      Thanks

I suppose some text frames aren’t threaded! …

Navigate to your paragraph style and go to the bullets and numbering. Under the “list type” dropdown is another dropdown for “list”. What does this say? If it says [default] what happens if you make a new list style by clicking on the dropdown and selecting New List… ?

Thanks for the suggestions Colin and Michel. Question for Michel, do all text frames have to be threaded for the auto numbering to work? It seems OK for the figures, just the tables have gone all wacky.

No, but it could easier! … [personally, not concerned]
