Hi there. I keep several ID windows open at a time while building my newspaper documents. Typically there are at least four tabs – two main documents open in a nested window on my right-hand monitor, and two open in a nested window on the left-hand monitor.

This never used to be a problem till about six months ago – probably brought on by a bug in an update. Lately, very often but not always, I will have one of my main documents selected on the right, but when I export it to PDF, one of the documents on the left actually gets exported. Sometimes it takes several attempts to get the correct document to export. I can click over and over in the document/window I want to export, but it will still export the wrong window from the second screen.

I have a Mac Studio currently running OS Sequoia 15.3.1. My main monitor on the right is a Mac Studio Display, and the secondary monitor on the left is an old Samsung. In the Display panel of System settings, the icons for the monitors are arranged as described on my desk… Samsung on left, Studio on right.

Is there any way I can prevent InDesign from exporting the wrong document? It’s driving me nuts!

i know it sounds crazy but do you click into the window you’re exporting before doing this?

LOL, Yes. At first, that’s what I thought I was doing wrong, but sometimes even if I click multiple times in the window I’m trying to export, it will still PDF the window in the other monitor.

Yes, it’s the first thing to try, for sure.
