HTML5 Video won't show when not on first page

I am developing a series of short E-books, for guitar teaching purposes.
I’ve made some dummy epub:s in InDesignCC, trying to follow the very informative Lynda.com tutorial by Anne-Marie Concepcion.

The rendering of my embedded Video files in different browsers is what gives me serious headaches – I get really irregular results. (See examples below.)

My question: Is there anything I can do in InDesign, or by adding some HTML/CSS, to at least get rid of this “Need for Scroll Mode”-problem? Or does one need to look into adding some JavaScript player? (I hope not, I’m no good at that!)
      Here goes:

Using Readium plugin (Chrome) on my PC’s:
If video is on the FIRST page, all is well.
However – if you need to “turn the page” to get to it, the following happens:
When the Scroll Mode is set to Auto – which means “Page-turn mode”, the video frame and controls becomes invisible when clicking “Play”! The sound plays, though. And you may succeed in turning it off, if you are lucky to click in the right spot…
If I switch scrolling to Document or Continuous Mode it works perfectly fine.

In Firefox, with EPUBReader plugin, all is fine.

Helicon Reader (Android): Same problem as in Readium – video needs to be on the first page to work.
On Gitden Reader (Android), video plays with no problem.
On Gitden Reader (iPad), it plays – but the controls disappear so it can’t be stopped…

On iBooks (iPad): The video plays fine when in Scroll mode. In Page-turn mode, it shows the poster and a slightly cropped version of the Controls, and it won’t play at all.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this subject!
      Kind regards/

      Wow that is aggravating.

First, does the epub pass validation? Is it an epub2 or epub3 (assuming it’s 3)

I would not put much weight to what happens to the video in Readium or Firefox. Preview the video as your readers will .. on your iPad or Kobo or whatever you think they’ll be using.

      Which version of iOS?

Hi Anne-Marie, thanks for your reply!

My test epubs passes the IDPF online validator with no problems. (Haven’t installed Epubcheck, I suppose I should!)
They are epub3, made in InDesign with no further tweaking.
      iOS version is 8.0

Thing is, I am going to put a lot of graphics in – music notation, chord diagrams and such. So I figure people may wanna watch it on a bigger screen when available. So, I was hoping to be able to recommend Readium as a safe choice for my future book buyers… hmmmm, bummer…

Seems like it can be narrowed down to some issue related to the “page-turning mode”, since it works in different OS:es/readers when switching to vertical scrolling. Do you have any ideas what might affect that?

      /Stefan
