I'm a bit new here but already found an answer to another problem I was having (thanks Harbs), so I thought I'd give this question a shot. Maybe someone knows the answer, or there's a script to solve it.
I have an ID book, made up of several chapters, in which the page size is standard 8.5×11″, but where for prior reasons the content is set up to fit on a 6×9″ page. At the moment the content is aligned to the left and right (toward the upper left/right corners) of the verso/recto pages with about 5/8″ margin from the outer edge of each page. Visually, the extra white space is on the bottom edge and along the spine of the page.
Now I need to reduce the page size itself to be 6×9″, which would make the content fit nicely in the page. It would all be so easy if I could adjust the document size and simply tell ID to have the content still adhere to the outer and upper margins. It seems to me that would make the content self-adjust and more or less center itself nicely when the page size changes. Eh, it hasn't worked so easily.
Playing with Layout Adjustment and a number of other things, the only way I've been able to make it work so far has been to
a) click the Layout Adjustment Icon
b) manually select all the left-hand pages first
c) select the upper left dot in alignnment selection icon (way upper left in the menubar)
d) ..then resize the page, and magically everything adjusts nicely and looks great…and now I repeat for the right hand pages.
…what a pain in the neck. I'm not looking forward to doing all the chapters one at a time to do it…but I may have to.
Has anyone got a script or plugin that will take a facing-pages documents and do all this at once? Or is there a simply way to just tell ID to reduce the page size and keep all content within the set margins, which I think would resolve all this in a flash.
