I have an Indesign document that is 61cm wide and 91.5 cam tall (ie about 2ft x 3ft). It’s a pretend cover of a magazine with a friends dog featured. I wonder if it is possible (and if so how) to print to a 15cm x 10cm piece of photo paper, at the same resolution at which the final document will print, but only printing a small (ie 15cm x 10cm) part of the document. I want to see how a couple of the elements on the page will look when printed on the full size document by a printer. There are a few bitmap images that may be too low a resolution but I want to see how they look.

I hope I have adequately explained what I mean. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

There are various things you could try — including using the Tile feature in the Print dialog box. But I think the easiest thing to do would be to make a new 15 x 10cm document, add a graphic frame, and then place the original INDD file into it at 100% size (cropping to the part you want to see). Yes, you can place an INDD into another INDD file. :-)

Then you can print and see how it looks!

I assume you’ve figured it out, but fwiw, you just File > Place, select the INDD file, Show Import Options if there’s a particular page or page range you want to import, click OK, then click with the loaded cursor on the page (or inside the frame if you’ve created one) to place it on the page. Select the image contents with the Direct Selection tool and look at the Scale field to verify it’s 100%, or change it to 100%.
