As a regular user of story editor i suddenly was confronted with extremely slow speed.
I found out that te reason for this was a paragraph style with a build in grep style.

That’s curious. Normally, a grep style should not (and does not) affect the story editor. Maybe it was the particular grep style? Just one grep style or a lot of rules?

That’s true, a lot of GREP rules will certainly slow down the system. If some GREP styles are not needed, you can ignore them by simply inserting an Asterisk (*) sign before the code.

In this case it is a story (about 15000 characters) with one paragraph style and one character style.

I just made a story with 30,000 characters and 850 en spaces, with the same grep style as you, and it did not slow down Story Editor.
I wonder what else the problem could be? Have you tried rebuilding the document using IDML?

You’re right. I build a new document and that one didn’t slow down the story editor. It has something to do with certain documents. I’ll find out later.
