      Howdy!

I have two multi-page InDesign files.

      I update both regularly.

The first file, file A, is used as a base for the other file, let’s call it file B. What I mean by that is that I link each of the pages from file A to each of the pages for file B. Sometimes I will even link multiple instances of the same page from file A in file B.

Problem is this: whenever I change the page count in file A by deleting or adding a page (or more), file B starts pulling the wrong pages.

For example, if I take pages 1, 2, and 3 from file A and plop them into file B as links but then add a page in file A after page 1, the links will actually be pointing to pages 1, (new page), 2. Page 3 will be forgotten.

      I hope this is clear!

So I’d like to know if there’s a way to tie the pages in file A to file B so that they follow their respective links.

      Thanks!

I understand your situation. Unfortunately, I can’t think of a solution to this. The only option is to add pages in File A after all the pages in the document. I believe this is not an option for you but this is all I can think of.
