Does anyone know why sometimes a file will ask for a missing font even though all the type is outlined? I work for a small print shop and every once in awhile we'll get an InDesign file that has all the fonts in it outlined, but it will still say that a font is missing even though it's not being used.

When I go to the Find Font window, then click on the name of the supposedly missing font and click to see where it's being used, it will highlight the area of the outlined type; almost like there's a copy of the outlined font that isn't outlined. I've seen this happen repeatedly and I don't know what to tell our customers to fix this problem. Is it happening because of the way the type was outlined?

Yes, if you select the text with the Type tool before outlining it, the font is still applied technically. Weird, but true. If you convert the whole frame (with the selection tool), the font truly goes away.
