In my auto generated TOC, I am getting an extra column with a single letter (to the right of my page number). It doesn’t correspond to a master page. What is it and how do I get rid of it? Thanks for any assistance.

That sounds pretty weird. I can’t think of what would be going on. While you can’t upload images here, you can put the image somewhere (like dropbox or Imgur and then put a link to it here)

Here is the link. It expires in two weeks. https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/IwS7yAnyhg

Wow. I’ve never seen anything like that.
I would try exporting the document as IDML and then opening that. Perhaps that will clear it up?

I exported to IDML and it didn’t change anything. Does this new screen shot provide any additional helpful information? https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/7MokvVUoRO

Whoa. Hm. Can you try choosing Type > Show Hidden Characters and see if anything is visible there.
And just to be sure: you ran Layout > Table of Contents to create this?

I did use Layout/Table of Contents to autogenerate it. It looks like there is a tab between the page number and the mystery column, but where did this extra column come from? https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/p287OYjQiL

I would send the link to the document, but it is our financial statement.

In the Table of Contents dialog box, do you have the “Run-in” checkbox selected, by any chance?

No, it is not checked :(

Wow. This is a crazy mystery. If you feel comfortable sharing it with me personaly, you can email me a link to download the file. I’m at David @ CreativePro.com (I’ll delete the file after investigating, of course.)

      Hmm!

You surely forgot to tell us what Grep F/R you use to get this TOC!
