I would like to be able to place external YouTube Movies that will stream into my document once imported.

i.e. so that I can export my indesign file to:

      Interactive Acrobat PDF

      Flash SWF Document,

& still have all the video and interactivity included.

Ideally it would be a SWF object that you would place into the Indesign docuement, then specify the Video ID and it would snap to the size which you created when you dragged out the window frame. Or you could just specify the size in and X, Y coordinate.

The point of this is that adding youtube movies within Flash is not easy to as I understand it and althought there is now a recent plug in for Acrobat to acheive this it would be ideal to have it in the content creation tool and not in the exported file format tool.

Additionally I am looking for a way to place Mp3 files into my documents so they too can be played in the exported formats. Currently only Acrobat can do this with ease.

I wait with excitement to see what Adobe's New Digital Interactive Publishing Tools will be when they are presented in Sept. but I can't wait for a possible solution. I need one now.

      Any assistance would be appreciated.

      Robert

MP3 files can be imported into InDesign CS5 and exported to PDF (Interactive PDF) or SWF.

But you cannot link to a youtube movie because there is no object… no actual URL to point to. At least none that I know of. Youtube points to an HTML page, which then points to a movie, but not in a way that you can grab the flv.

The youtube widget for pdf is limited (seizing and positioning in floating window) according to a recent answer I got from Adobe. I am surprised by InDesign not being able to export interactive link to grab from youtube.com. After all its standard procedure in Dreamweaver. Isn´t there a simple work around? Anyone!!!

Conricus, I'm surprised that you are confusing a HTML layout design program (which of course should be able to link to anything on the web) with a page layout program that happens to be able to export to HTML and SWF.

Are you sure you are using the right tool to do what you want?
