I was sent a Shockwave Flash Object (swf) file and an html document. I thought with CS5 and the interactive features I could edit a swf in InDesign?

      Please help!

      Thank you!

Nope, ID doesn't open SWF or FLA. It can only EXPORT them. Or import them to play them in an interactive PDF or SWF.

Can the creator of the SWF export to smething that I can open/edit in InDesign?

It is possible, but unlikely. Maybe they could export a PDF and then you could convert that PDF to an InDesign document with the PDF2ID plug-in (from recosoft.com).
