I am working to make an Epub version of a difficult document.
Sorry for the long explanation but I cannot find a way to include a screen capture here???

Each chapter includes translations of verses from a Pali document.
There are 421 verses altogether and each chapter selects verses on a different topic.
The authors (from several years ago) used the original verse number on the left of each verse (hanging indent)
But also numbered the verses in each chapter from [1] to [x?] with a number at the end of each verse.

The problem is that the end-of-verse numbers within are in locked text boxes anchored to the last word in the verse.

When I export to Epub, each number [X] is rasterised and very difficult to edit. There are 421 images in the image folder!

Could these text boxes have been added by an auto process?
Is there a way to use find/replace to replaced these with normal text?

Many thanks for any help/advice you can give?

I’ve often (very often!) found that just posting a request for help frees up problem solving tools buried a bit below the surface -)
That seems to have happened here. So I’m posting what I found just in case it might help someone else.

I exported the book to epub without a custom style sheet just to see what these numbers looked like in html and what classes were created.
I was expecting 421 different classes. one for each image.

To my surprise there was just one class “_idGenObjectAttribute-1” applied to all images. So it was easy to control the appearance of all 421 numbers, just by editing that class. I reduced the size a little and had the image float to the right. So now it looks OK in the epub.

      Hope this helps someone.
