      Hello,
ok so here is my problem and I am sure somebody must know the solution. I have a numbered list that goes up to 71. I need to create a style for the numbering that is a number inside a circle, the circle fill is red while the number is white and the number is centered inside the circle. I have no idea how to create this and for the last one hour I have been trying a couple of tricks using paragraph rules but this did not work and the other one was using a font called combinumerals, though this last one worked except it does not create a circle but half a circle so it did not work. Can anybody help me on this?

There are many tricks, but honestly the easiest and best is just to find a font that has numbers in circles. If you search for “font with numbers in circles” you’ll find a bunch. :-)

I answered here the same question 4 weeks ago. You can built this circles with para rules. Find here an example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ocham9iu9igg36/numbering.zip?dl=0

It seems he tried the paragraph rules with no success.

I personally would create a circle text box, make the fill red, and then type in the numbers and make white. And then anchor in place.

I figure a half hour tops.

I love the paragraph rules trick, Kai! Add a white rule below to a colored rule above and you can make an “empty” circle:

ok, yes with manually adding the circles of course it works, the problem is that this is something I am doing very often and to have an automatic way of doing it is very valuable.
I tried the paragraph rules and this works however the problem is that I am not able to center the list numbers so they all appear to the left and I have no idea how to make those “numbered list” be centered and in white, how do you do this?

I hope what I am writing here is clear.

I managed to do it with combinumbers however this only gives me hard circles instead of full circles.

Download my snippet and have a look at the numbering-options.

      Hello Kai,
thanks for your help, I tried the snipet, it looks good, however I have 2 problems and if I can fix it then this would work out.
The first one is when the text goes over to the next line as a normal paragraph the number of course stays but the blue circle moves down which is not good, how do I keep the blue background with the number?

The next thing is if I change the color of the numbered list numbers to white then the paragraph text also becomes white, so how would I get the numbers to be white and the paragraph text to be black?

Again thanks for your help, is appreciated.

Use a paragraph rule above instead of a rule below and give the character style a white fill. Find here a new snip:
