      Hi

I’m kind of new to using Grep Styles and hope someone can help me out here.

In my text I have several “codes” like “+1+” and “+2+”. I would like to replace these codes with different icons, that I have created in an open type font. I have made a Character Style “Icons” that applies my Iconfont. Now I just can’t figure out how set up the “find text” in Paragraph Styles > GREP Style to actually find the codes.
      Anyone who can help?

Are the codes you want to find just +1+ and +2+ or are they other things also?

I am abysmally ignorant about Grep but am wondering if you really need it. Can you not simply use the Text pane of the Find/Change facility? Put your code into the “Find What” slot and the appropriate letter of your open type font into the “Change To” slot. Then, in the lower part of the dialog box, if you need to, use the “Find Format” slot to put in the existing character style of your code (if any) and then use the “Change Format” slot to put in the character style “Icons”.

      Or have I misunderstood something?

Hi, I think this will help you…

      GREP Find What:
      \+\d+\+

      Change Format:
      Icons character style

The code will find all the digits whether 1 or many before and after the plus sign.
