Is there a way to search for words that have been combined that don’t have spaces, are not URLs or have a URL applied to them? I’m tryingtofindaseriesofwordslikethis that have lost the spaces between each word so I can put them back in. I don’t know how many words it could be but I have words like the following that I want to ignore:

      mywebsiteurl.com

and words that have a hyperlink applied to them.

      Mark,

Hello again. I see you have a challenging project. It is tough working with oddly formatted documents from outside sources.

Can you clarify if you mean words in general. Say, the ability to determine that a trying of characters includes different words or do you have a few strings of words that you can define that have had the spaces stripped.

If the latter, a grep find/replace will do the trick, else you may be out of luck.

Have you used a different character style for the hyperlinks and URLS? If so you could use GREP to search for any string over 10 characters say and you will see all long words in your doc based on the body style. Then you can pop the spaces in.

All hyper linked text uses a Character style called Hyperlink. All other text (most likely where the problems will be found) uses a paragraph style called Body.

@justine, yes, words in general. I don’t want the search to look at hyperlinked text or text that is written like a URL since those tend to not have spaces anyway. I’m trying to search for the other stuff, thetextlikethis that will be in the body paragraph style.

      Mark,

There may be a script for that. I have never seen it. Would seem difficult because a string of text might be able to be broken up into several different sets of words.

If it were me, I would use the spellcheck feature and just power through. I know it will pick up URLs; however, it seems the most logical way to handle this.

*** feature request – Spellcheck to ignore URLs. ***

Yea, the spell check was taking forever with 460 pages, that’s why I asked about the GREP. Guess I’ll just have to bite the bullet.
