      Hi all

I am working on an urgent job (picking up someones else' artwork!) where I need to amend a large index where any page number after Page 56 needs to increase by two. A colleague has informed me that this might be possible using GREP?

Can anyone help with the GREP equation?

      Any help much appreciated!!

      Regards

      Rob

Increased by 2 what? 2 points or do add onto 52 so it's now 54?

GREP can't do maths by changing numbers from 52 to 54 and 55 to 57, 56 to 58, it just can't do it.

It could if you give an example of the text (a good chunk) to find the Numbers of pages and increase it by 2points in size, or 2 points in leading.

But no – it won't be able to +2 onto every page number. A script might be able to – but I don't know how.

GREP can't add numbers, but this script can:

Not sure how you'd limit it to numbers over 56… hm… why not just re-generate the index?!

I suppose you could limit it by copying it to a new document. Run the script. Then copy it back into the right document.

I suspect the Index was outsourced and not created in InDesign? (I don't know what a rhetorical mark looks like)

Perhaps “I suspect the Index was outsourced and not created in InDesign?”
