Just an FYI for the admins — my corporate web filter Websense is blocking Gravatar as a “Personal Network Storage and Backup” web site. So I see big red Xs for everyone, and I won't be able to post my own pic. We have a very strict policy, but I've posted my pics on other sites and it works fine because they seem to be hosted on the site that the user is logged in to. Wish I could see you all !  :-(

Hm! Interesting and frustrating. Thank you for letting us know. (We decided to use gravatar because we find it far easier than having to manage one's picture at each and every site. You just manage it in one place. Also, then we don't have to worry about people uploading gigs of images… tricky problems there.)

Yes, that certainly makes sense. But anytime you force someone to use an “offsite” resource, corporate security can become an issue. If you only had users who were sole proprietors, home users, or independent contractors, it makes perfect sense. They can do what they want with their computers.

If you plan on having people who have to deal with corporate security settings on their network with no control over them, it's a good idea to provide an alternative if you want everyone to have the same experience on your site. Lots of great tools or links that would work if I was having issues at home, I can't implement from my workstation here, since I can't make changes to settings that effect internet access at all. Not your issue, of course, but something to consider since you are obviously looking to expand your scope and build a community Smile.  Thanks!
