I am working on a book with some 30+ chapters and approximately 250 pages. Currently I am inserting pictures where we feel we need to lighten up a bit. In order to do this I would like to be able to view some 10 spreads at a time. How do I accomplish this since every chapter is it’s own document. I can view all documents but they scroll individually.

You want to see 10 spreads from 10 different InDesign documents? Tricky…

One way could be to place those spreads into another InDesign document. (You can place an INDD file into another INDD file, just like a PDF file. It acts like a graphic.) So you could put all 10 spreads on 10 spreads of a new document.

You cannot edit the pages, but you can option/alt-double-click on one and it will open the original document (same as Edit > Edit Original), where you can make edits, then save, and close and the “composite” document would update.

Hmmm, thanx but that sounds awkward. It goes relatively quickly to generate a PDF where I can easily see the entire book but I consider this more of a work around than a preferred way of working. I thought that there would be an easy way when you quickly want to browse in order to get an overview.
