    Hi, i had a few general Indesign questions that have come up through use.

    1. I have a GREP style for copy where anything within parentheses (x) gets made inte superscript
    The GREP style is as follows: \((\d+)\) (Linked to a superscript character style)

    This of course works great with notes in copy or in a table (our primary use) but for items that just need to be inside () i.e a year (2000) it also creates a superscript. Can i add to above to remedy this situation. Currently i have a character style that removes superscript.

    2. Can I universally turn of for an indesign document or program that it remembering previous formating i.e stroke and fill of a shape, paragraph style or other so that it always has basic paragraph or no fill/stroke.

    3. In the spirit of above can I also turn off that Indesign remembers paragraph styles when copying from one document to another. As i understand and got help in this forum there is a shortcut for this: ctrl-shift-v but would be great if it i could turn it off universally.

    4. Other than master pages to create templates, can i save a page or spread to library to be pasted in? The issue is that if you want more than one version per template then the master pages add up. I figured out i can add elements to the library together as one but i would then have to “place them” versus them being correct when adding them from the library.

    5. Is there a way to set row height in a cell style or table style? or does this have to be done manually.

    6. Noticed when creating a TOC one header gets a character style attached to it while all other headers are as should be

    Niklas, sorry for the delay in getting this on the forum. It was being held for moderation for some mysterious reason.

    1. You could use a grep code to limit it to just 1, 2, or 3 digits. For example, \d{1,3}
    2. no. But you can press the letter D when nothing is selected to return to defaults.
    3. no, I don’t think so.
    4. you can only add objects to a library, not pages
    5. no cell and table styles do not allow “geometry” or size. Frustrating, I know!
    6. That sounds like a mystery.

    6. Have you looked into the respective header? If there is a character style applied, it will appear in the table of content.

    But my answer does not solve the question: How can I tell InDesign to ignore the character style in the table of content that I have applied to a single word in a headline. For exa,pla the headline is bold with certain words (between brackets) in bold-italic. In the table of content the paragraph style is set to regular, sothe word within the brackets should be italic. I have tried with a nested GREP style in the table of content paragraph style, but that does onmly work with Find-Replace, not as a nested GREP style in the TOC paragraph style.

    1. That grep style addition is spot on.
    2. Ok, that work. Can i set up what is default? ie. default for object is black stroke, id rather have this set to none
    3. Fair enough
    4. OK, perhaps in another indesign update
    5. Yes, bummer.
    6. Indeed, oddly enough now its fine.

    The black and white default you get with the letter “D” cannot be changed (I think?!)
    But you can use object styles to apply formatting quickly.
