Frames "Studder" in ID5 on new IMac

      Hello folks!
I am trying to re-create my InDesign on a new iMac. On my old iMac running Snow Leopard, somehow I have it set so that when I resize a frame (image OR text frame), it drags smoothly and only snaps to the the guides I have set. On the new computer (iMac running OSX 10.8.2), the frames “studder” as if catching on some invisible grid. I do not have any grids or smart guides turned on….the settings are just like on the old iMac, but it behaves differently.

Also, on the old iMac, I do not see the width and height dimensions displayed when I resize frames, yet on the new iMac, I do. I would prefer to turn this off. I do not know how I have them turned off on the old iMac.

Also, do I need to set the memory allocated to InDesign on the new iMac?

Thank you so much, as I am getting so frustrated and wasting so much time trying to figure it out.
      Terry

For the dimensions display, Preferencs > Interface > uncheck Show Transformation Values

I think the stutter problem can be addressed in the same panel under Options > Live Screen Drawing although I’m wondering if you have a video problem.

Wow, Bob. You know what, when I turned off the Transformation Values, I didn’t seem to notice the stuttering…I think it may have been an optical illusion as the numbers in the transformation box change every so often as you resize, and I think I might have been thinking it was actually stopping at grid points. I am going to use it a bit and see if it feels better to me. I am SO grateful, you can’t even imagine! Thank you! Terry
