Format cross-reference numbers

      Is there any way to change the coding in the format of cross-referenced page number so that instead of the two cross-referenced pages displaying [236]-[238], they would display [236]-[8]?

      I think you misunderstood. The [ ] were meant to indicate the little box in which cross-references are set off in InDesign.
