Coworker is working on a book and every time she places a footnote at the end of a paragraph before a Subheading, the footnote reference is placed directly under the paragraph and not at the bottom of the page, we can place the footnote in any other spot in the paragraph (or the page for that matter) and InDesign places the footnote reference at the bottom of the page as usual. We’ve looked at all the footnote options and paragraph styles but still cant figure out why InDesign is insisting on placing the footnote reference where it is. just wondering if anyone else anyone else run into this particular oddity when placing footnotes and if they were able to pinpoint why InDesign is doing it.

Oh, we found it, the body paragraph style had the Paragraph Layout set to Span All in the Span Column paragraph settings for some reason.
