    Hi,

    I have a footnote in a table, ID doesn't do Footnotes in tables, so I have made a fake note. But now I have a problem…

    My English isn't all that, so I have put screendump with this mesage..

    

    I Have a couple of note numbers. Numer 227 and 228. 227 is in a table so the note text at the bottom of the page isn't numer 227 anymore.

    I have made a fake note (magenta 227) so the numbering is correct in the text.

    But the note text at the bottom of the page that belongs to 227 is now 228, and 227 is a blank one… (the text was already inserted).

    How can I make the 228 note text, the 227 note text without copy past manually. There are about 400 notes, so that is grrrrrrr.

    This is one of the difficulties with tables and footnotes.

    If your tables are very simple like this, then you could use the Split Columns feature in CS5+ instead of a table.

    Another idea is to use this script to adjust your numbers (+1):

    Indesign and footnotes, not a good marriage. I often have to do the same thing, inserting footnotes by hand each time they're in a table. I too make a fake footnote (color white) and insert the text by hand. Most of the time the footnotes in tables are at the end of the text, as endnotes.

    I think that the Adobe “master brains” not often use footnotes in tables, otherwise they would have found a solution for that. The same goes for footnote that need to continue in a book, each file starts at 1 again.

    Gert, ik zie dat je uit Brussel komt, dus dan kan ik makkelijk nederlands praten. Ik hoop dat in de nieuwe update er meer aandacht geschonken wordt aan de basis elementen van ID en niet de media kant van ID. Verder werkt het programma prima, maar de noten en tabellen zijn verschrikkelijk. Bij een paar nootjes maakt het niet zo veel uit dat je wat handmatig moet doen, maar als je er een paar honderd heb, is dat een ander verhaal.
