At my place of employment previous writers randomly capitalized specific terms that should not be capitalized, except when in headings and in figure captions. Now I need to find all instances of these word and change their case.

Example: The brown dog jumped on his Dog House.

I can use the find/replace to search for “Dog House” and change to “dog house” but I don't want these words to change if they are headings or captions.

I really don't want to search each found instance one by one. Nor do I want to search each paragraph style separately.

      Any suggestions?

I think you might have to go page by page only because the replace all option will do exactly that. Are your captions a static element in your PDF? Because if they are they probably won't get changed.
