I am trying to you some Index Scripts for a publication that has 974 different Biblical cites. Obviously we would rather not do these manually. First of all I need a Find/Change formula to find digit:digit. I have tried some that I found on the forum but they do not work. Example John 3:16. If I can find any digit, then a colon, then any digit, I can find the references. Could someone help me, please. Thanks, Sharon

      Sharon,

Here’s one that I put together or found awhile back and have modified to find most instances of book and verses. I’m not sure if its exactly what you’re looking for for indexing but thought it might help.

      (\(| )\K([1-3])?(~s|~S| )?([a-zA-Z]\w+|[a-zA-Z]+)\.?(?<!and)(\d+)(?:\:(\d+))+((?:, |\–|\-)(\d+|[A-Z]+?))?(?= |\)|\;|\.)

No, Aaron, unfortunately not. Looks like a lot of brain power poured into one formula. I think we will be fine if we can find a simple formula for digit-colon-digit. Thanks so much

oh ok, sorry, yeah it is a beast of a regex. Here is a simple digit:digit regex

      \d+:\d+
