Hi all! I think I found a work around for the complaint that Adobe hasn’t supplied a “clear all fields/settings” button for the Find/Change dialog (like we have little garbage cans to clear the format find and change). I cleared all fields and settings, then saved that emptiness as a query named “- clear all”.

Unfortunately, you’d need to do one for Text, GREP, Glyph, etc., but the upside is you can pick the “- clear all” for the type of search you want and the dialog will switch to the correct type. (I don’t want to admit how long I’ve stared at the blank space where the Case Sensitive and Whole Word buttons are supposed to be before realizing I was on GREP, not Text! :D)

BTW, InDesign ignores the dash in the query name for sorting purposes, but it makes finding my custom queries in the list easier.

      Hope this helps!

You can use Peter Kahrel script:

      A Script to Reset InDesign’s Find/Change

      or Luis Felipe Corullón script:

      Reset find/change dialog

Jennifer I love it! Very clever! (and you don’t have to install anything) ;-)
