I recently started building a book. The file is kept in two places. One on my jump drive and the other on HD. When I resumed building this file occassionally it puts and * in front of the title, freezes the program until I save.

Never seen this before and it concerns me that I will get so far into production and all for naught.

      Please advise.

If you're working on the file on your hard drive and using the jump drive (I'm not familiar with that term but assume it's just a USB drive) to keep a back-up copy, there shouldn't be any problems. Working off of a USB drive, with relatively slow performance, can causse a bottleneck when opening and saving, but once opened the file should work fine.

The asterisk in front of the file name simply means the file has been altered, but the program shouldn't freeze. You could try turning off the Live Preflight after you've first opened the file. It can be a huge pain in the rear end if it has to go through a lot of pages after a minor change.
