Fade in appears in full, then fades in!

Hi Folks, I am hoping there is a simple answer to this! I am in CS5, creating an Interactive doc. I am using some fade ins on text boxes. The trouble is that when I export as swf and view in the flash player, each of the fade ins appears at full opacity for a second, and then do their fade-in.
I have gone over and over the procedure, as in the Lynda course on Interactive Docs in CS5, to no avail. So, is this a common problem with a simple solution, or something more nuanced? Here are my settings…..
