Facing translation, with footnotes flowing independently?

      Hi,
I’m typesetting a Hebrew book with English translation and English footnotes. The Hebrew is flowing in the text boxes on the right page, and the English translation in the boxes on the left.
However, I want the footnotes, which are attached to the Hebrew, to flow from left to right–from the English page to the Hebrew. Is there any way to do this (other than removing the footnotes and faking them, by just putting in superscript numbers and making the footnotes a third, standalone flow of text)?
(A link to an image to explain what I mean: https://pinpointdesign.net/maalin_eng_ashkenaz_footnotes.jpg)
      Thank you!

      I’m thinking the latter, unfortunately.
(i.e., copy and paste into separate text boxes).
