Exporting to PDF will freeze or take up to 20 minutes or more

      Hi there,

      I have not used indesign but its become a big part of the company I work for. One of the users here has an issue with CS5 Indesign which Im looking at and would really appreciate your assistance if possible.

      He works on a document and when he is ready to save as a PDF he has some issues. If he tells InDesign to print to PDF its slow but manageable, if he says to export the program freezes or appears to and will not respond for up to 20 minutes or more. I can open other programs on computer and do anything as long as it doesn't involve InDesign.

      Could be something in a page somewhere causing it to hang, a corrupt image, or corrupt font, or something corrupted, like a paragraph style, or other style etc. Hard to know without seeing it.

      You can:

      Try exporting half the pages, and then try exporting the other half.

      If it's hanging on one half of the export – then you can try halving that section of pages again until you narrow it down to specific page or pages.

      Thanks Eugene, I have sent your reply to user and will see what he says. Im also going to have a different person do the same on their machine with same document and see what happens.
