Hey guys and gals, having a weird text problem when exporting to pdf. We noticed that when exported, an 8pt font gets shrunk EVER so slightly to 7.99. I know that sounds ridiculously minimal but the company we submit our pdfs to, checks and rejects all pdfs that have any text in them smaller than 8pt. We could bump the text size up in the ID doc slightly but with submitting around 50 pdfs to them monthly it’s a real PIA. Any thoughts on the matter?

      Thanks for the time!

What version of ID, and what PDF export method/settings?
I’ve just exported some Times 8 pt from CS6 on OS X 10.6, using High Quality Print – Acrobat 8/9 (PDF 1.7) – turned off Optimize for Fast Web View and Create Tagged PDF.
The resulting PDF opened in Acrobat, where using Touch Up Text and Properties/Text showed the text was still 8 pt.
      Chris.

Hmmm interesting. Right now we use “smallest file size” for the ease of emailing. Maybe that’s the problem. I’ll pitch that and see what they say…the slight increase in file size may be worth the uneeded hassle of where we’re at now. Thanks for the reply!

      Edit: Using CC

Just tried using the “Smallest File Size” defaults, other stuff the same as my earlier post, and I still get 8 pt text in the PDF.
      Chris.

Edit: odd, it’s placed this reply in the wrong position.
Edit2: after that edit, it’s back in the right position. Ignore.

OK we were getting that too. Now I’m wondering if it has to do with whatever software they’re using to inspect the pdf’s. I really thought it was us and it was driving me crazy not being able to figure out why they were getting a different reading than we were. Thanks again for the reply, I’ll have to check things over with them and figure it out from there.

PS The replies were switching positions for me too, not sure whats up with that :)

      Thanks again.
