      Hi everybody,

I have a small excel import problem, that some of you maybe could help me with.

I am trying to import some excel tabels into indesign (unformatted table), and everything is ok, except that all minus numbers changes from minus to inside a bracket.

      Here is one excample:

      – 1000 in excel becomes (1000) in indesign.

I can't find any reason why this should happen, and I can' find any solutions to fix this problems.

If someone know why this happens, and have a solution, it would make my day!

How are you importing the excel text? Are you copying and pasting from Excel? Saving as text files? Placing Excel files? There are lots of different ways to get the table text in from Excel. If you only have a few, copy & paste is easy to do and picks up all the formatting of the target table cells.

I would play with the cell format settings in the Excel doc first. Then I'd try saving as text and opening that in a text editor, or Word and see if it looks right there. Once you get the numbers right in a text file, you're good to go.

I can't replicate the problem – can you give step by step from Excel to InDesign or provide a sample file?
