      Hi all,

I really have a problem with the fonts embedding when export to epub. For example i have a book with the font “Amerigo” (roman, italic and bold). There are italics in the text everywhere. But when i export (all text is styled properly) to epub, and i watch the epub in the digital editions reader, than is see that where there is a character style “italic” the font is not ok (it looks like a alternative font) and below that, the “Leading” seems to be greater that on other places.

I have altered several things in the css file, deleted the ecryption file and replaced the fonts with the real one (with export the fonts will be encrypted).

What is the proper workflow when export to epub and embed fonts. By the way, i use a bookdocument with all the chapters etc to split the epub.

      Can someone help me please?

      Thanks in advance.

I am very wary of the idea of embedding fonts in epub documents. The main reason is that (as far as I know) almost every epub reader other than Adobe's own Digital Editions ignores them. Are you sure that your doc will be read only in Digital Editions?

That said, it does seem like a CSS problem. I would recommend creating your own CSS file and export the epub with “empty” style declarations. Then you can just fit your own CSS file in, instead of relying on the one ID makes.

This is going to be a major topic at the Print and ePublishing Conference in Seattle in May.
