In previous versions of InDesign, I was able to edit the Text Wrap envelope by adding anchor points (using the Add Anchor Points tool) and move them about (using the Direct Selection Tool.
However, when I attempt this just now in CS6, as soon as I select the Add Anchor Point tool, the Text Wrap envelope disappears and I am unable to see it again until I go back to the black-arrow Selection tool. Similarly, if I can see it, as soon as I select the white-arrow Direct Selection tool, the Text Wrap envelope disappears.
      Have I missed something?
Actually (upon reflection and a bit of experimentation) it seems to work as expected for a single graphic or a single text block. My difficulty arose when I attempted to do it with a graphic and a text block grouped together (such as a photograph with a caption). I have only just upgraded to CS6 and haven?t yet got on top of all its particular quirks.
      Please unconfuse me!

OK, it?s over a week now. Doesn?t ANYBODY have a solution to offer me? Or at the very least a confirmation that CS6 has changed the rules?

      Furry,

I know that you can’t do that on CS5.5. I don’t recall with earlier versions.

Diving into your grouped objects and applying individual text wrap options and boundaries seems like the only solution.

Thanks for your reply, Justin. Heavy sigh at its contents! :-(

      Furry,

If you have a large quantity of items within the group, you could create a shape with no fill or stroke color and create your custom path.

If you want to group this invisible shape with the rest of the items, ensure that you group it first. You can then select the individual shape from the group and apply your settings. I am pretty sure that if you apply the settings first and then group, you will loose the wrap.

Yes, that is precisely the work-around that I have been using — though I am not sure what you mean by ?group it first?. By definition, a group is more than one item so, even if there is only one other item initially, which of them (the invisible shape or the other item) is first? Or am I simply choking over philosophy when really all I want to do is create a text wrap envelope that does the job for me.

      Thanks for your help.

      Furry,

You pose interesting questions. I played around with ID for a while, saw your problem, and struck out but Google came to the rescue. After switching to the Direct Selection tool, hit the Escape key and the text wrap will become visible. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/667436

Thanks Bob! I kinda _knew_ there must be a way to do it. I would never have thought of using the escape key. InDesignSecrets shines through again!

I wish I could learn this on my own, though knowing bit of the idea I still I am not that at end of the beginners level. If I have known this, I could perhaps do all the printing and designing of our business mails needs> right now I am with the service of https://digitekprinting.com/, but maybe soon If I am totally expert of this, I can do this myself.
