I’m currently making a trifold menu. I have the original menu text in Adobe Illustrator, so I just copied and pasted the text into my new InDesign file. Now I can’t edit the text at all. When I click on the text area it keeps overlapping with a new text layer. I’ve never had this issue before and am not sure what has happened. I’ve copied and pasted from AI to InDesign previously with no issues. I noticed the frame around the text is different – not the usual solid line, instead it’s a fine coupon like line. Any advice?

Usually that dotted line means something is grouped.

Copying and pasting text is not a good idea.

Instead Export your text from Illustrator as a RTF file and then place the RTF file.
