      Hi everyone

      I have to convert a lot of Quark files into InDesign (as they may be reprint books from ages ago). The conversion is good but always needs adjusting.

      One of the problems is I have to repetitively adjust each paragraph style for the same change. If there are 40-odd paragraph styles this can take quite a while.

      Is there a script so that I can adjust all the different InDesign paragraph styles in one go with the same change?

      An example: All the minimum justification settings need to change to 80%. (For any smart people I know that I could change the hyphenation settings to 80% in Quark first before opening in InDesign, this is just an example.)

      Cheers

      John

      A basic loop would do it:

      all = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles;

      for (i=2; i<all.length; i++)

      {

      all[i].minimumWordSpacing = 80;

      .. change more properties here ..

      }

      You must start at index 2, rather than the usual “0″, because the first two paragraph styles cannot be changed and/or it's useless to do so (do you know why?).

      It has been a decade since I last saw QX but I don't think they have paragraph style groups yet, so you don't need to take these into account.

      For a full list of thi gs you can change this way, look in the OMV Help, or its friendlier incarnation at https://jongware.mit.edu/idcsjs5.5/pc_ParagraphStyle.html
