I have imported a Word doc without the images and now want to add them back in as files. Only way I know is to enter empty paragraphs until I get enough space for me to place an image in. Seems like an inefficient way!

      Is that your answer?

Now, you ask something with a question! …
And I have the same answer!

I can! … By another question!
Why don’t you import the Word file with the ‘Word’ images?

BECAUSE its a 180 page Word doc that the client wants in InDesign. I saw in a Lynda.com tutorial not to necessarily do that; plus the client may be replacing the screen shots.

Use capitals for “BECAUSE” means that you’re surely right! …
      But, personally, not truly sure!

How would I do it? …

I’ld import the Word file with the Word images!
So, we could suppose they will be anchored in the text in a single para per each one. We could suppose too they appear in a logical order so that we could easily name the definitive images as “figure_1.psd”, “figure_2.ai, … figure_577.jpeg (the last one).
I’d use (inclede in the script mentionned below) a simple find/replace to find all these anchored images and replace them by a para as “@figure@ (without numbering and suffixe (.ai, or .psd or .jpeg or .pdf, …).
No image but paras with that code.
Of course, the images are ready and placed in a specific folder.
Now, just 1 click to import the 577 images! … by script.

      That’s all!

      Best,
      Michel
