This is probably something simple, but I just can’t seem to figure it out, nor have I been able to find anything online.

In my version of InDesign, when I have the type tool active I get, in the upper right hand corner, a variety of text justification options (center, left align, etc).
However, I’ve been helping someone else learn the basics of InDesign, and in his version, those options do not appear. We’re both running 12.1.0.56 and have not (consciously) changed any of the defaults.

I assume there’s some setting (perhaps under ‘window’ or ‘view’?) that got unchecked on his system, but I have been unable to figure out where. Does anyone know? He would definitely like to be able to center text!

Under the Windows menu select “Control” this will turn the top control bar on/off
