      Dear All,

      1. I have created two data sources (.csv files) located in different folders.
      2. All images are placed in their respective folders in JPEG format.
      3. All image names in both data sources (.csv files) are placed in each row with the use of ”@Image’, which is in the first row.
      4. One of the data sources (.csv files) does not work and shows the following message below when I click on ‘Preview’ in the Data Merge tab,

‘There is at least one data placeholder that cannot be found in the data source. Make sure all the placeholders correspond to the fields in the data source’.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Any kind of help will be much appropriated.

      Kind regards

      Nay

Yes, it means you have some rows or columns with empty data in them, sort of like leftover from some previous file. So make sure there are no blank rows or columns within the databases occupied data. Also to insure there’s no data in the columns and rows outside the boundaries of the data, I usually select many blank columns to the right of the filled in data and hit delete. Same thing on the rows below the filled in data. Hope this helps. Let me know if it works.

      Hello John,

      Thank you for your response.

My Excel database only consists of the data shown below. There is not any empty data or other data outside the boundaries.

      A
      A1 @Photos
      A2 System.jpg
      A3 Systemone.jpg

      Kind regards,

It could be blank spaces. Just select some blank rows and columns and delete them. Maybe 10 or so.

I have attempted this but the problem is still persisting.

Is it possible to use more than one data source at the same time?

        Kind regards,

        Nayan

I don’t think so. Make sure all you data is in one database.

The Data Merge technique may not be suitable for what I am trying to do. It may be easier for me to manually place the image instead.

      Thank you for your help.

      Kind regards,

      Nayan

Indesign requires you to add pathes to the csv.

      Instead of

      Myimage.jpg

      Its

      Path:to:Myimage.jpg

If you’re on Mac you may try MyDataMerge (https://mydatamerge.com). You can directly use excel and you don’t need pathes to the images in the excel.
