      Hi,

      i have written a script that creates a CSV for data merging QR-Codes in Indesign according to this article: https://creativepro.com/data-merge-qr-codes-explained.php

      Everything works fine. Except if the content i have contains colons or semicolons as the CSV and InDesign require them as control characters.

      Works:
      MATMSG:TO:johndoe@adobe.com;SUB:Hi;BODY:Hello im the body message;;

      Doesn’t work (recognize the colon behind “Hello”)
      MATMSG:TO:johndoe@adobe.com;SUB:Hi;BODY:Hello: im the body message;;

      Unfortunately, Indesign doesn’t allow to escape these characters – i thought this might work:
      MATMSG:TO:johndoe@adobe.com;SUB:Hi;BODY:Hello\: im the body message;;

      But it doesn’t… any help appreciated.

      Hi Pat, there is very little documentation about QR codes anywhere on the planet… My guess is that this is either not possible, or would require some information from an engineer at Adobe. Have you tried the Adobe InDesign forum?

      Try wrapping the command string in quotes? (I really don’t know)

      If you send me the script then I could take a look to see if I can help!

      I don’t think you can use colons in this context other than to differentiate between what is a MATMSG field and what is the data for that field.
      If you’re working on a Mac, you may wish to consider a paid solution that makes it far easier to make QR Codes for data merges: https://mydatamerge.com/
