I do a lot of exporting to PDF with different resolutions and page ranges twice a week and it’s really a pain every single time, not to mention that I might make mistakes.

I’m creating 12 PDFs for printers, 12 other for online, and each one has different page range, bleeds, marks and quality… some has to be exported as spreads and some as pages, etc etc.

The routine is same every time. Is there any way to automate this routine?

I would greatly appreciate any help!

Well that is what the PDF Presets are for… the only thing you cannot save in a PDF preset is the page range, I think.

You’re right. PDF Preset does half the job done, but it doesn’t do page range and also it doesn’t automate. I need to select corresponding preset and indicate the page range and also name the file for EACH export… including the time that I have to check each file to make sure I’ve made no mistakes this takes a lot of time. I’m thinking there must be an easier way that I just don’t know.

EDIT: I’m not familiar with scripting in indesign, but if you guys think its doable with scripting, I’m willing to put some time to make this work.

      I use:
      https://zevrix.com/outputfactory.php
and use the ‘workflow’ feature, which might be what you are looking for.
      It certainly works for me.

I should add that I use it in conjunction with the ‘Smart Folder’ function is OS X to track down all the individual documents that I want to process.
