Can anyone tell me if there is a way of setting a “default” style for the PDF appearance in the cross-reference panel? I want all my cross-references to have a “visible frame”, have a “light blue” color and a “dashed” style. The default color is always black, for example and I want to change that, as well as the others mentioned. This panel keeps reverting to its own defaults when exiting and it’s frustrating!
      Thank you.

      Hi
I cannot replicate your issue (Win7-CS6). Or maybe I misunderstood it…
If I set up the appearance of the visible frame and close the panel, Indd retrieves my settings when I create a new x-ref…
Besides, do you know you can change the appearance of all the x-ref by selecting them all and then go > X-ref options (or select the first one and double-click on the last one while pressing Shift)?

      Hi Vinny:
Thank you for your response. Yes, you are partially correct. Most of the settings remain, if you remain in the document, except the color! It is the color that I want to change from the default black to the light blue within a document. This always reverts to black when closing the panel, at least that’s what I’m experiencing. In addition, once the document is closed, the next time it is opened, the settings have changed. I would like to set them once for all my documents and have the panel open up at those settings, whatever document I open and whenever I open it… It would be nice to have such “permanent” settings available in Preferences.
Thank you, also, for the tip regarding the change in appearance of all cross-references. I was not aware of this, and I will certainly give it a try!
      David.

      Hi David
Apparently, my version do not completely behave like yours. Without closing the document, my Indd keeps the last picked color, even if I close the xref panel.
That said, if you close the doc, it’s a different story. Unfortunately, after some testing, I must say the way the color behave is really inconsistent.
Sometimes it goes back to black, sometimes it picks another (random?) color…
It does not seem to be an document preference, nor an application one. Some sort of “cache” pref, out of the box…
I’m afraid you’ll have hard time finding a solution for this, unless someones pops up with an explanation and/or a solution…
      Sorry i can’t help any further…

      Hi Vinny:
Wow! Who can understand the subtle, but strange idiosyncrasies of InDesign? Why can’t programmers think more like users?
Well, I thank you for your input. I did learn something new, so there’s a positive!
      Regards.
      David.
