      Hi everyone
I’m working on a series of books that are scans from other books placed into InDesign.

The problem I’m having is this. Let’s say there is a black mark that’s appeared on the scan between a couple of text lines. I would just like to drop a white (well actually Paper) text or graphic frame over the mark to cover it up so that it doesn’t show when it is printed.

This does cover up the mark, EXCEPT when I go to Preview, or go to PDF it, the mark shows again. It’s as though the box I’ve drawn does not exist – it only works in the normal InDesign view. I’ve tried using different layers and that doesn’t work. Transparency is 100% although it shouldn’t apply to ‘Paper’ anyway.

What is preventing the covering up of the marks?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Cheers
      Johnny

After just posting this message, I’ve just realised something … if a draw a graphic box it works … it’s if I draw a box using the Pen Tool that it doesn’t work.

Could this be a bug in InDesign?

Any help to get round this problem would be great, because there are some awkward shaped marks that would need to get rid of by drawing a white box with the Pen tool.

      Thanks.

I have also had this problem and using a white box usually works. But my black blotch keeps moving. I finally had to change the background. I’m anxious to see what people come up with for your problem.
