      Hi fellow indesigners,

i just can't get it right; copying and pasting text from Excel, single or multiple cells (or from time to time even Word, so probably powerpoint aswell) into inDesign (CS5 for that matter).

It just pastes in as an embedded picture, when pasted with nothing selected, when pasting with a text frame active, when pasting into an indesign table.

Only when i type in a few textcharacters select those and then paste it, goes well.

Why is that? Hope someone has the answer to it. Thanks in advance

Ah yes, that would simplyfy, but yet be another workaround,

plus giving me more handling to do (change table into text) (deleting styles)

so i remain to my question; why is it occuring?

Depends on which version of Word/Excel you are using. For best results, use Office 2003 as later versions create more problems.

I don't know whether its worth the time. But you can try opening the file on PC (Word/Excel) and then trying to open it in ID. Even Adobe's ID page mentions of incompatibilities.
