Comparing FILE INFO on multiple documents

      Hi All, Im new here.
      Been using Indesign since it came out, as a graphic designer and for the last eight years also as a teacher. I got a question;

      I made a indesign package and deleted the indesign file. I want the students to open the IDML instead. I do this so when they open the IDML, it creates an unique indesign document. In the file info you can see when this document was created (under FILE > FILE INFO > AUDIO DATA > CREATION DATE, its precise to the second). I do this so if students copy from eachother i can check if they have been plagiarizing.

      I want to know if there is a way to compare say 120-160 documents on its creation dates without going to file info.

      Any suggestions?

      Without resorting to scripting, one possible way to accomplish this would be to place all of the InDesign documents into a single document, then open the Links panel, and in the panel options (located in the menu in the upper right corner of the Links panel), choose Show Column: Creation Date.

      Didn’t have time to check before posting yesterday, but in checking the results of my first suggestion, Creation Date in the Links panel shows only the date with no time stamp. However, you can avoid InDesign entirely and just open the folder that contains all of the files on your computer. With the window open, do the following: On a Mac, right-click on the window and choose View: as List. Then right-click on the column menu bar at the top of the window and make sure that Creation Date is checked. On a PC, right-click on the window and choose View: Details. Then right-click on the window menu bar at the top and make sure Date Created is checked.

      This was EXACTLY what is was looking for. A simple solution to a (in my mind) difficult problem. Almost ashamed i didnt think of this before. Thanks alot David. This is a real timesaver.
