cmd H vs crtl H (switching form PC to Mac)

      Hi guys,

We just got new Macs at work, after 5 years of being on PCs. I'm finding the trasnition a little tough. One thing that's been bothering me is the cmd H command to Hide Frame Edges is now hiding the application instead. I know there's been an ongoing battle between Adobe and Apple over this. They made it and option in Photoshop for the user to choose preferred action, Illustrator seems to obey the Hide Edges command, but InDesign seems stuck on hiding the program, which I pretty much never want to do.

If I try changing it in the KBSC settings in ID, as soon as I hit cmd H to reassign, the application gets hidden. Is there an option or setting somewhere (in ID, Sys Prefs, or someplace else?) that I can change to get cmd H back the way I want it?

Any other crossplatform “gotchas!” I should look out for? Thanks!

It's a great question and something that has bothered many people for years. For some reason the Command-H “Hide” shortcut is not available in the Keyboard system preferences pane, so you can't disable it there. The only way I have found to disable Command-H is to use a third-party utility such as iKey, which lets you remap your keyboard shortcuts.

Somehow iKey (and perhaps other utilities, such as QuicKeys?) captures the cmd-H before the mac OS does, so it seems to work.

Any idea if Adobe is exploring adding the option, like Photoshop does? Seems odd this feature is so inconsistant across the Creative Suite programs.
